A major expansion of the Anchorage YMCA to create more space for youth sports, wellness, walking, family connection, and community access — the first step in a broader vision to strengthen YMCA programs across Alaska.

For nearly 60 years, the YMCA of Alaska has been a place where families come together, kids grow stronger, seniors stay active, and community happens every day.
 
Today, demand for YMCA programs has outgrown our space. Alaska families need more safe, healthy, year-round places to move, gather, connect, and belong.
 
The Anchorage expansion will create more room for youth sports, wellness programs, indoor walking, family connection, and community access. This is an investment in healthier youth, stronger families, and the future of community across Alaska.

What This Expansion Includes:

  • A full-size gymnasium for youth sports, community events, and expanded recreation

  • An elevated indoor walking track for safe, year-round movement

  • Expanded fitness and wellness space

  • New areas for youth programs, families, and community gatherings

  • Improved accessibility and infrastructure

  • Expanded parking to support increased use
