Y Membership Agreement

JOINING FEESA onetime fee that will not be charged again if your membership remains current or inactive for less than 12 months. Joining fees go toward capital projects and building maintenance and are allocated to a reserve fund. Therefore, join fees are not refundable.

SERVICE FEE: All Members, Non-Members, and Program Participants agree to pay a Service Fee on all payments made by credit card, 3%, and ACH, .32%. There are no Service Fees on payments made by debit card, cash, or check.

MEMBERSHIP DUES: Member dues will be charged on the 1st of each month and will complete processing by the 5th of each month. All new members, and inactive members reactivating, agree to be set up on recurring autopay and accept automatic monthly billing. Another payment option, if not set up on autopay, is to pay 3, 6, or 12 months in advance. Autopay will continue until the member has initiated communication to terminate or place an account on hold. See “Termination of Membership” and “Membership Holds” below.

 

RATE ADJUSTMENT CONSENT: The YMCA may periodically adjust membership and/or program fees. If a fee increase is scheduled, the YMCA will provide at least 30 days’ written notice before the new rate goes into effect. This notice will include the specific amount of the increase and the date when it begins. By signing, I (we) agree to future fee adjustments.

 

RETURNED PAYMENT FEE: A non-refundable Returned Payment Fee of $30 will occur for any payments that do not process.

MEMBERSHIP HOLDS: Member agrees that requesting to place a membership on hold is initiated by the member any time prior to the 1st of the month the hold will start. This request must be completed via:

  • online through the Member’s YMCA Account at ymcaalaska.org
  • email to the Membership Director, Kristin Haines, kristin@ymcaalaska.org
  • or, in person at the YMCA of Alaska

Hold requests over the phone will NOT be processed.

There is no fee to place a hold or short-term termination on membership.

Holds are scheduled from the 1st to the 1st, no mid-month holds, with a limit of 3 consecutive months per calendar year. Holds will automatically be released on the scheduled end date and the autopay of membership dues will resume. Members MUST initiate communication if a longer hold is required. Refunds are not available for lack of communication for a hold extension request.

For holds longer than 3 months, membership will be placed on a Short-Term Termination with no join fee if reactivated within 12 months. Members must reactivate account at the YMCA of Alaska to have the join fee waived. Reactivating accounts online will not allow for the join fee to be waived.

Refunds are not available for the lack of scheduling a membership hold or short-term termination.

TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP: Member agrees that termination of membership is initiated by the member any time prior to the 1st of the month they no longer want an active membership. This must be completed via:

  • online through the Member’s YMCA Account at ymcaalaska.org. This option is only available to membership types with the option to join online
  • email to the Membership Director, Kristin Haines, kristin@ymcaalaska.org
  • or, in person at the YMCA of Alaska

Termination requests over the phone will NOT be processed.

There is no fee to terminate membership.

Any balance due must be paid prior to cancelling membership.

Pro-rated refunds will not be provided if membership is cancelled mid-month. Termination will be scheduled to occur on the 5th of the next month at the end of the billing cycle.

Refunds are not available for lack of initiating or scheduling a membership termination.

PHOTOGRAPH PERMISSION: The applicant(s) hereby give permission for the YMCA to use, without limitation or obligation, including for YMCA profiles, photographs, film footage, or tape recordings which may include the members image or voice for purpose of promoting or interpreting YMCA programs.

PERSONAL DATA: Accurate personal information must be provided on membership profiles, for members and non-members, to ensure the proper use of memberships/day passes/punch cards/guest passes and the safety of all who utilize the facility. Data includes, but is not limited to, name, phone number, address, email, date of birth, up-to-date photo. The YMCA does not sell any personal information.

BACKGROUND CHECK: The applicant(s) accept background checks at the time of signing up and periodically at the YMCA’s discretion.

LOCKER USE: Lockers are available for daytime use only while members and guests are in the facility. Any items left in lockers after the facility is closed for the evening will be placed in Lost and Found.

PROPERTY LOSS: The applicant(s) understands the YMCA is not responsible for personal property that is lost, damaged, or stolen from YMCA property while using the YMCA facility, YMCA grounds, or participating in YMCA programs.

CELL PHONE USE: The applicant(s) understand that inappropriate use of cell phones will result in membership being cancelled. Cell phone use is prohibited in locker rooms.

INSURANCE: The applicant(s) understands that the YMCA does not provide any accident or health insurance for its members or participants and further understands it is the members’ responsibility to provide coverage.

MEMBER/NON-MEMBER HEALTH: The applicant(s) represents that they are in physically sound condition and understand that the participation in aerobics and other exercise, weight training, recreational sports, and use of pools, steam room, and fitness equipment carry a potential risk of injuries or illness.

MEMBER CONDUCT & RIGHT TO USE FACILITY: The applicant(s) agrees to abide by all the rules and regulations of the YMCA of ALASKA and its operating units. Members understand that failure to act in accordance with the rules may result in expulsion from the YMCA and cancellation of membership and/or ability to access via day pass or as a guest. Must read YMCA Code of Conduct.
ACCEPTANCE/RELEASE: By signing, I (We) acknowledge the terms and conditions of membership and visitation stated above, for myself and the minor applicants listed, if any. I (We) hereby release the YMCA of Alaska, its agents, servants, and employees from all claims for injury, illness, death, loss or damage which may result from participation as a member.
