This event centers around an exhilarating basketball tournament, pitting our dedicated law enforcement officers against our fearless firefighters and EMS professionals. The Mat-Su YMCA cornhole event is an exciting and fun-filled gathering that brings together individuals of all ages and skill levels for a lively game of cornhole. Cornhole, also known as bean bag toss, is a popular outdoor game where players take turns throwing bags filled with corn or bean-like material onto a tilted board with a hole in it. The goal is to land the bags on the board or, even better, in the hole to score points. The Mat-Su YMCA cornhole event is a great way to engage in friendly competition while supporting a good cause. Participants can form teams or play individually, and the atmosphere is always filled with laughter and friendly banter. Whether you are a seasoned cornhole pro or a beginner looking to try something new, this event offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. The Scholarship program has been most utilized by:
- Youth referred by schools, churches and community organizations
- Adults who are temporarily out of work
- People who are divorced or widowed and are experiencing financial hardships
- People on fixed incomes
- People who are overwhelmed by medical bills
- People experiencing other financial hardships

It all began …………
When community leaders, parents, educators, and citizens noticed challenges faced by Mat-Su Valley residents. This group realized the lack of resources for fitness, youth development, and social interaction was hindering community well-being. Motivated to make a positive impact, they worked to bring YMCA services to Mat-Su Valley. They believed YMCA could transform the community by providing a safe space for individuals and families while encouraging community engagement. In 2018, the YMCA of Alaska formed an Advisory Board for Mat-Su YMCA, marking the start of program development. Today, Mat-Su YMCA leads various initiatives, including Tanaina Elementary’s before and after-school program, engaging Day Camps, and comprehensive swim lessons, all aimed at enriching the community’s growth
