Lyengar Yoga
This style of yoga is most concerned with bodily alignment. In yoga, the word alignment is used to describe the precise way in which your body should be positioned in each pose in order to obtain the maximum benefits and avoid injury. Lyengar yoga emphasizes on holding poses over long periods of time versus moving quickly from one pose to the next (flow). Lyengar yoga also encourages the use of props, such as yoga blankets, blocks and straps, in order to bring the body into alignment. Standing poses are emphasized in Lyengar Yoga. They are said to build strong legs, increase general vitality, and improve circulation, coordination and balance, ensuring a strong foundation for study of more advanced poses.

Hatha Yoga
Hatha is a slow-paced stretching class with some simple breathing exercises and seated meditation. This is a good place to learn basic poses, relaxation techniques and become comfortable with yoga. People who have practiced Hatha Yoga have experienced an improved sense of health and well being, feeling more at peace with themselves and in increased inner awareness. The most familiar and popular aspect of yoga in the West is Hatha Yoga, which refers to the physical postures and movements of the body, however this is just one branch of the giant tree of Yoga philosophy. Hatha Yoga may be practiced by people of any age or physical condition. Many people who have tried a hatha class love the relaxed feeling.
